My first camera was a Hexacon ZI (Contax D), which had a non-returning mirror. http://www.praktica-collector.de/095a_Hexacon_ZI.htm After each photo, the mirror would remain in the up position, leaving the cloth shutter curtain exposed. In the years I used this camera in the tropics, I ended up with several holes in the shutter curtain, which were patched with bits of curtain cut from an old Minolta SR7. - --Jim Laurel - ----- Original Message ----- From: "Frank Farmer" <frankandaubrey@mindspring.com> To: "LUG" <leica-users@mejac.palo-alto.ca.us> Sent: Monday, February 03, 2003 10:41 AM Subject: [Leica] Leica Cloth Shutter Question > Dear Luggers, > > I have a question about an article I read in an unnamed publication about shooting photos with the sun in the background. Specifically, it read that you should use a SLR for this type photo and not a rangefinder with a cloth shutter because the sunlight may burn a hole in the cloth shutter. Is this possible? How likely is it that a M6ttl's shutter is going to be burned by the sun? > > As always, thanks in advance for any responses. > > Frank > -- > To unsubscribe, see http://mejac.palo-alto.ca.us/leica-users/unsub.html - -- To unsubscribe, see http://mejac.palo-alto.ca.us/leica-users/unsub.html
