I agree with BD: the collectible items are usually normal production
items made in low numbers, with special features, for special customers
(works cameras, military cameras), as one-off tests, or with special
(low or "unique") serial numbers.
I think they should rename the special edition "collectible" cameras
and lenses. A much more apt description is "hoardable".
"Do you collect Leicas?"
"No, I just hoard special editions."
Normal Leica cameras and lenses are "stashable", as in "I bought a s/h
Noctilux today to add to my stash".
