This was my first thought when this thread was started. The last time I flew
by air just before Christmas I had to unpack my entire Billingham bag and
let security have a close look at each lens and body. They also had a good
look at my Sekonic meter as if it might be some kind of ray gun. I shudder
to think what they would have made of a rapidwinder if I had one and they
had a play with it.  Why take the risk? - just put it in with your checked
luggage.
