A year ago I compared a number of 21mm lenses useable on the Leica
M's, including the 21/4 C-V and the 21/2.8 ASPH, which were then
published in the Viewfinder. The 21 ASPH turned in the best
performance, in almost all areas, but the 21/4 C-V was not that far
behind although it did not surpass the ASPH in any area except size
and price. It's a great value, and especially if this focal length is
not a major one for you, it's an excellent choice. I got one even
though I already had the ASPH for those times when I didn't want to
carry the larger lens.
If you do get the 21/2.8 ASPH, just make sure you get the Cosina 21mm
finder. It's almost as good as the old 21 Leica finder and a lot
cheaper. The new Leica multi-finder is a disaster.
