Are you in the habit of tearing inconveniently placed buildings down before you trip the shutter?>>> No, but I will move my position, change focal length, etc. to improve it. And I shoot lots of color. It was simply an interesting quote; something I hadn't thought of before. By 'geometry' I think most of us realize that I'm refering to the symmetry (or lack thereof) in a shot that "works." If I hadn't read that quote before, and someone posted what I had posted, it would have piqued my interest enough to check it out - not use some semantic argument for the lack of detail I was able to give. - -----Original Message----- From: owner-leica-users@mejac.palo-alto.ca.us [mailto:owner-leica-users@mejac.palo-alto.ca.us]On Behalf Of Johnny Deadman Sent: Tuesday, December 17, 2002 9:55 AM To: leica-users@mejac.palo-alto.ca.us Subject: Re: [Leica] b/w and color On Monday, December 16, 2002, at 02:00 PM, Randy Jensen wrote: > I'm sorry that I don't have the actual quote, but in The Mind's Eye (an > Aperture book of writings on photography by HCB) he makes a comment > about > color photography and why it generally doesn't "work." Really bizarre. Is photography really about 'geometry'? Funny, I thought that was geometry. Might it possibly also be about 'color' in certain circumstances? Why is it harder to control color in photography than geometry? Are you in the habit of tearing inconveniently placed buildings down before you trip the shutter? Is it just me or is there an increasing tendency to substitute 'stuff I read somewhere' for actual thought on this list?
