For me, B/W places an emphasis on the fundamentals and reveals more of the subject. I also am making a similar transition to the exclusive use of T400CN and the digital lightroom. My working discipline attempts to get it right in the camera and use Photoshop only as a printing tool. As an aside, I notice that an apartment full of my recent color work gets old and tiring—the work appears so seasonal and temporary. Most of us are cool eyed which may account for my fondness towards a more monochromatic color shot or B/W. After the "WOW" of a great color shot, I soon get bored with it. As a former professional easel artist I noticed a similar "contrast" between realism and abstraction. The more atmospheric a realist painting was—closer contrast—the more pleasing they were.
