I was asked to make a portrait of the Swedish hypnotist Jörgen Sundvall. Stockholm was dark as a crypt, as usual at this time of the year. I had no flash. On my way to the appointment I dashed in slight panic into a second hand photo store, grabbed a (functional) flash for $3 from their junk box, then ran into a cloth shop and bought a piece of silver cloth. Off to Mr Sundvall, who was in a total hurry for another appointment. Had my wife hold up the silver cloth as a reflector, fired the cheapo flash through the white curtain in an attempt to diffuse it a bit -- and prayed.
