At the moment I have only one lens, the Elmarit-R 35 mm f/2.8 (first version). I would like to add a short telephoto lens to the kit. I am leaning towards a 90 mm f/2.8 Elmarit, with the Elpro close-up lens. I would use the lens for portraits, and for close-up shots of flowers.<< Bill, Don't overlook the 90/2 if you find one at the right price. The extra speed makes the SL viewfinder seem very bright, even if you don't shoot wide open. The two SLR lenses I use most are the 90/2 and 35/2. I have Elmarits, too, but I prefer the Summicrons. >>3. Is there any reason to buy a 3-cam lens, if I don't plan to ever buy a newer "R" body"? (Cost IS an issue)<< Cost is always an issue. But time and again I've acted on what I thought I could afford at the time, rather than what I really wanted, only to regret it later. Generally the newer the lens, the better. My first Leica SLR body was an SL. I bought all 3-cam lenses, and was glad I did as I eventually bought an R7. The SL still has the best viewfinder of any camera I've ever used. I have some ROM lenses and I'm sorry I can't use them on the SL. Dave - -- To unsubscribe, see http://mejac.palo-alto.ca.us/leica-users/unsub.html
