It's in the eye of the beholder :-) Actually it depends on the light level. During normal daytime, outdoors, I often do not bother to open up to focus, if I am working at f4, f5.6, or sometime even f8. But even at the best of times, it is tedious because of the poor quality of the viewfinder. It works but you also have to work hard at it. > Will the same adapter let one use it on the D1 with the split image > screen? Yes, I tried this at Hunt's this past Sunday. The Canon rep was not amused. Stan the Leica man on the other hand got a kick out of it. - - Phong > -----Original Message----- > From: owner-leica-users@mejac.palo-alto.ca.us > [mailto:owner-leica-users@mejac.palo-alto.ca.us]On Behalf Of Jim > Hemenway > Sent: Wednesday, November 13, 2002 9:31 PM > To: leica-users@mejac.palo-alto.ca.us > Subject: Re: [Leica] RE: PAW: Early Snow in Montreal > > > Phong: > > Do you think that the F4 80-200 would be too dark to focus effectively > on the D30 or D60? > > Will the same adapter let one use it on the D1 with the split image > screen? > > Jim - http://www.hemenway.com > > > Phong wrote: > > > > Hi Jim, > > > > It's the king of the zoom: the 70-180mm f2.8 Apo Vario Elmarit. > > I also use the Canon 70-200 f2.8 lens which is a fantastic lens, but > > the AVE is so much better, better contrast, high resolution thoughout > > the whole zoom range, and in all apertures (with film - I haven't used > > it enough with my digital camera to form an opinion). > > > > Warmest regards, > > > > - Phong > > > -- > To unsubscribe, see http://mejac.palo-alto.ca.us/leica-users/unsub.html - -- To unsubscribe, see http://mejac.palo-alto.ca.us/leica-users/unsub.html
