Now things have calmed down (see today's Daily Mail for the reason...) a bit I finally got a chance to put together a 360 from July. I shot it at Ed Mirvish's annual birthday party here in Toronto. Normally this is a lot of fun but (see the portfolios from the previous 2 years on my site) but it felt quite threatening this year and this was certainly reflected in what I shot. Here's the first pic I've put together from it. 1000 pixel version (90k): http://www.pinkheadedbug.com/misc/mirvish-4-1000.jpg 2000 pixel version (197k): http://www.pinkheadedbug.com/misc/mirvish-4-2000.jpg 4000 pixel version (608k): http://www.pinkheadedbug.com/misc/mirvish-4-4000.jpg If you can stomach the download, the 4000 pixel version is the coolest, but even this doesn't capture the level of detail in the 12000 pixel wide original. This was comped together from a selection of 14 images out of a total of about 30 I shot in this location. The more I do these the more I am struck with how similar the process of putting them together is to film editing, especially in the sense of constructing meaning through juxtaposition, and in the delicate house-of-cards nature of making it all fit together, which often means you have to sacrifice the best individual shots for the sake of the whole. As usual the pano wraps around at both ends and you are welcome to load it up into photoshop and use the filter>other>offset command to experiment with alternative framings.
