Isn't 12 ounces heavier still another way of saying three-quarters of a
POUND heavier?

A 50 mm lens that is 3/4 of a POUND heavier than a very solidly built 50
1.4 - to say nothing of its dimensions - is a behemoth...

just to keep things in perspective for those who have actually never
handled the noctilux before, and for those who imagine that the noctilux
is of the weight and dimensions of the mount palomar 'scope, please keep

these facts in mind:

1) the noctilux is only 12 oz heavier than the summilux
2) the M6 + noctilux weighs only 2.7 oz more than
   nikon f100 + f1.4/50 + 4xAA

i have been using the noct as my normal lens for over a year with no
regrets (and no back problems!)
