The shots will be at night, on a tripod, so >speed is unimportant. less noticeable than what? >Any other slow-speed films that you'd recommend? My last project was >shot on TMax 3200 so I want to do something with as little grain as >possible, just for a change of pace. Acros 100 is probably the film with the finest grain among 100 film, but real speed may be lower than the speed on the box. For your night shots it would have the advantage of needing no adjustment for longer exposure times (I think this is called 'no reciprocity effect'). Just expose as metered. Next in line for fine grain among 100 films is Tmax 100 which can be easily pushed. The most amazing film speed vs grain combination that I know of is Tmax 400 in Xtol 1+1, but you said you did not need speed........ I hope you that you are not under the impression that less grain necessarily means sharper _looking_ pictures. Anyway, there are many other qualities to grain than fineness. Thus my question: is grain fineness really something you think will add to the impact of your night shots?
