However, today I was able to spend time with a delightful friend, John Henry Funk. John's an 83-year old baritone, still singing quite engagingly. He recorded a CD this past Spring, and is hard at work on a follow-up: French songs from the Renaissance to the 20th Century. http://www.photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=1033863&size=lg John's known met virtually every major person in 20th century vocal art: Melba (as a child, he admired the solid gold chamberpot on her grand piano!) Vallin, Sayao, Muzio, Boulanger...the list of names (and anecdotes) is astonishing. Best, Jim Shulman Bryn Mawr, PA - -- To unsubscribe, see http://mejac.palo-alto.ca.us/leica-users/unsub.html
