We are talking about by far the most important day of the year for Jews.
Many less observant will go to services only this day all year. Maybe
one other day, New Years Eve; about a week ago. Happy New Year!
But last night and today, Yom Kippour is a solemn day not a happy day.
If "off atoning" means they are home then it's the proper phrase but it
sounds like they are "off somewhere".
Many wont go in cars this day. Perhaps walk to services for a few hours
out of the day.
How many of us don't have computers hooked up to the internet at home
and check on the LUG on the weekends?
Perhaps we're going into the office to do this.

But the more observant Jews will stay way from any electrical things or
most machines i think.
Fasting is a big part of it. Jews who have not been to a services in
years will fast last night and today.
I almost went last night after a 25 year hiatus.
Would have been the only time I'd been in the building all that time
without my Hasselblad.
I'd shot 8 or 10 weddings there. From the balcony. With a rented 250
Sonnar.
Now I'm off topic!

I'm sure I made mistakes in some of this.
