I'm looking at the Elmarit 90/2.8 now, and I understand Leica is offering a $200 rebate on lenses now, so I might pick this one up new. I shot one roll of film (Supra 100) and was very pleased with the results. Coming from using a Nikon F4s for the last few years, things couldn't be easier, lighter, sharper, etc. But I have two questions that perhaps the LUGgers will be able to help with: 1. I hear an odd internal click, only sometimes, when turning the shutter speed dial from 2 seconds to 1 second. It is not entirely repeatable, but here's what my experiments have found so far. If I turn the dial to 1000, then back toward B, I hear the click between 2 and 1. It sounds like something is releasing. This only happens if the shutter is not cocked. Once the shutter is cocked, though, it doesn't happen. Also, it seems like if I took the picture at less than 1/15, it doesn't happen, but I'm not sure about this. It doesn't always happen either. Is this a normal thing? Or should I try tripping the shutter with no film at lots of speeds to just get all the gears cruising along? There doesn't appear to be any problem coming from this click, but I'm curious what it is. 2. Bags. I've got a bunch of them, but they're all too big, being geared toward my Nikon system with big lenses. I need something much smaller to carry around this gem. I'll be in London in a few weeks, and thought I'd pick up a Billingham small hadley, but I'm not sure the M6 and 3 lenses will fit. Will they? Or will a couple of lenses need to be stacked or sit side by side, so that I'd need to use some pouches for the lenses? 3. What's the general verdict on the viewfinder/magnifier 1.25x? It appears it would be most useful for the 90mm, but perhaps the 50mm as well. Seems like it would turn my .72 into just a bit more mag. than the .85, so it might work well with even the 35mm. But at its cost I wanted to learn a bit more before spending the money. Does it make the view any dimmer or harder to use? Is focusing actually easier through it? Any other problems I should expect? Thanks for any help on these questions. Mark J. Rosen mjr@grok.org - -- To unsubscribe, see http://mejac.palo-alto.ca.us/leica-users/unsub.html
