I wear thick glasses, have just finished going through the same process and have used both the Leica zoom and prime 24mm viewfinders. I've also used the Voigtländer 25mm viewfinder as well. My personal observations are as follows, your mileage may vary: Voigtländer 24mm viewfinder - Don't buy it. The current version is inaccurate [see the LUG archives for more details] and lacks the brightlines. I've owned a bunch of them and this is the only Voigtländer viewfinder I feel this way about; the rest really give the Leica viewfinders a run for their money and actually improve upon them in certain focal lengths. I sold mine awhile back. Leica zoom viewfinder - I found it to be too large, too heavy, and lacking the brightlines. I also had a real hard time seeing the respective view that I was supposed to see through the viewfinder. For me, I had to switch the setting to the 21mm for the view to accurately display what I got back on the film, and even then I couldn't see the view edge to edge without moving my eye all around. Additionally, the rubber edge of the viewfinder always rubbed against my forehead when I was focusing through the camera eyepiece [I'm left-eyed] and it would then transfer the oil and sweat to my glasses; not too bad when you are inside with air conditioning, but horrible if you are outside and exerting yourself. Every time I took a shot in warm conditions, I would have to clean my glasses afterwards. I'm selling mine. Leica 24mm viewfinder - Just right. I can see everything contained by the brightlines and outside of them, without having to move my eye all over the place. Small, light, accurate and no issue with sweat from my forehead. Be aware, though, this item is no longer being produced by Leica and they are getting scarce to find; prices are going up too. I have not experienced any issues yet with the Leica viewfinders falling apart, but I know others have [see the LUG archives again]. However, I have seen many Leica metal viewfinders that have cracked glass elements from being dropped; the plastic ones appear to fare a little better in my experience. Stephen Gandy's website also has a lot of good info on viewfinders.
