I agree that the Road to Perdition was visually stunning, but overall 
left me cold. Some of the story is a bit too pat (I don't want to say 
what, but I think most people who've seen it know), there's very little 
drama to the ordeal, and it just didn't really engage me at all.

I like Roger Ebert's line on the movie - I admired it, but I'm not sure 
I really liked the movie.

Now Mendes' "American Beauty," on the other hand, ranks in my top 5 of 
the past ten years.
