I've been very hapy with Fuji Velvia. I don't know if
you think that is too saturated, but it has worked
well for me...slow but very fine grained.  Except for
the issues you mentioned on Kodachrome, and the fact
that they no longer make K25 I'd still be using it...I
just never warmed to using high speed films except for
occasions when I wanted a lot of grain.
