Slobodan,

Are you thinking of Li Po?

He's the guy that drowned trying to embrace the reflection of the moon on
the water (too much single malt). Basho died an old man (at 50), after
falling ill during a journey. His last haiku:

Taken ill on a journey
my thoughts wander
over a withered moor
