Often the country of origin is a clue to the specific features of the lens - for example the Canadian 250mm f/4.0 Telyt-R is the first version of the lens, optically and mechanically distinct from the late (German) version. With the 135mm Elmarit-R, the Canadian lens is newer, and optically improved over the German version. Sometimes the details are important to the photographer, sometimes not.
