Dare I say it - the best solution to the visual acutity problem - with 
SLRs anyway - is autofocus. Despite what certain diehards here say, if 
you pay attention to what you're doing, and are using a good autofocus 
system, it's rare to miss a shot because the autofocus doesn't focus 
either fast enough, or in the right place. In fact, I can't think of a 
single shot that I know I missed because of an autofocus problem with 
the Nikon F100.
