the release button is actually a lever that's about where a self timer might
be, and is concentric with the exposure lock button.  the real self
timer is electronic, and is concentric with the shutter speed dial.
the f3 book claims a speed "approximately" 1/60 at any shutter dial setting
other than "T".

i had to look this up in the book.   in the 80's i was a devotee of that
last n*k*n more machine than microprocessor.  since then i confess to
having been won over entirely by the wetzlar wonder.
