I'll bet it uses the QuickTime codec for DV import and display.

And it's good to note that the QT spec is the basis for MPEG-4.

Those running Macs might consider the excellent GraphicConverter which also
does slide-shows with fancy dissolves and things (although not THAT fancy).
Personally I think those "features" take away from the photos. Most people
seem a show once and don't need to be entertained beyond the content. It's
those of us who put them together that need to be entertained the umpteenth
time through.

The same works for video where a zillion different transitions take away
rather than enhance interest. I remember seeing a baseball game where the
production company had clearly just gotten a new effects generator and where
using every conceivable effect. It stunk - big time - and took away from the
game.
