The only way I can >make sense of it is that there are TWO shutter speed dials, the one on the >front being for the slower speeds. Is this correct? >Also, there is a lever which issues from the rewind knob on the top plate. >Can anyone tell me what this is for? >Brian McCarthy Brian, You're right; the small button on the front is for the slow speeds. In order to use it, you set the dial on the top plate to the slowest speed, then set the slow speed dial to the speed you need. As for the lever on the rewind knob, I'm not sure what you're talking about. Perhaps someone fitted a lever to the rewind knob so as not to have to extend it in order to rewind the film, as here: http://www.cameraquest.com/LRWlev.htm I knew that such a thing exists for Ms, but never thought about using one on an LTM. FWIW, the IIIf is a great camera, IMO. I have and use one regularly, in addition to M cameras. It's a little slower to work with, the main drawback for me being the tiny VF and RF windows, but it's nothing you can't live with. A plus is that vintage Leica SM lenses are relatively inexpensive, but are great performers. And then there is the current crop of Cosina lenses in LTM, which are equally inexpensive and take great pictures. Guy - -- To unsubscribe, see http://mejac.palo-alto.ca.us/leica-users/unsub.html
