[Leica] john glenn's leica?

has anyone ever heard of leicas in space?  hasselblad's space history
is very well known, but looking at the smithsonian air and space
museum shows john glenn's equipment on his feb 20, 1962
orbital flight:

we see what looks like the a leica IG.

i had never heard of this before...
