Ken,

A good place to start (but no prices) is Doug Herr's review:

http://www.wildlightphoto.com/leica/

Personally, for something "in between" a 50 and a 400 lens for an R8, I
would want to know more about what subjects you are interested in
photographing.
If you want to shoot portraits, there are some good choices (both new and
used); if you want to shoot landscapes, there is another set of choices. I
could tell you what I use, but that is no recommendation even being in the
same state (Washington) because we may have radically different interests.
Same goes for zooms versus primes. I have never liked zooms, but age has
forced me to adapt, so I have two for traveling with no photo agenda. If I
have an agenda, I take a couple of primes and an M6. You see how it goes.

But Doug's site is very good and he has photos taken with each of the lenses
he reviews, so that may also help you.
