Sal is completely right.  I always, always ask for hand inspections.
Sometimes this can be cumbersome -- say, when you have a couple hundred
rolls with you.  A good idea is to remove ALL film from boxes and plastic
containers (in the case of roll film, just the boxes) and put your rolls
into zip-loc bags of an appropriate size.  This greatly helps the security
people, cuts down on the bulk you have to carry and, frankly, helps keep
your stuff more organized.
