It's not a quality issue its the fact that you are a whiz at getting the Leicavits for 99 bucks at estate sales. Do I remember correctly? :) My Rapidwinder has performed flawlessly for a month now with it's ten user fixable parts and telephone support from Tom. I've put 24 rolls of film though my Leica with Rapidwinder on where ever I go. The Leicavits are thought to be quirky and have 50 parts which you're not likely to be able to fix yourself.
