Photographing sports with an M6, or any manual focus camera, requires disciplined practice. Which means many hours of following action and focusing along the way to develop a feel for distance in relationship to "focus ring turns" and where your fingers are with respect to lens focus, on the ring. For instance: When I pickup the M with a 35 (with focusing tab) I can hit 6 feet, blindfolded, dead on, just because my hands "know" where that is. Teaching your body requires repetition. Which way do you turn the ring for action coming towards you? You also gain in hit ratio as you develop experience and knowledge in the sport. You begin to know where things will move on the court, track, mat, etc. But mostly it is intelligent anad diligent practice. I have tried and practice various methods. Sometimes I just work on keeping the ball (currently working with high school freshwomen volleyball) in focus, following the ball, that's where the action will occur. Sometimes I just work on one player. Don't know if any of that helps - but that's how I approach it. George
