I learned my "basics" on a my dad's R3 with a 35/2, 60/2.8, and 90/2 back in the late 70s. Given that I couldn't afford much (if anything at all), I bought a second hand Konica T4 with a 28/2.8, 50/1.7, and a 200/4. After a few years, I moved on to Minolta. I got a series of second hand SRT-101, -201, and 202 as well as lenses such a 28/2.8, 35/2.8, 50/1.7, Vivitar Series One 90/2.5 macro, Vivitar Series One 90-180, 135/2.8... When I got "rich", I bought an XG-M... I paid CA$230 for the body... just before the X-700 came out. When my grandfather passed away in '91, I herited is Nikon FE, 35/2.8, and a 75-150 Serie E (a mighty fine lens might I add) and proceeded to sell my Minolta gear. Eventually both a second body (everybody needs a second body), a FM2 with an MD-12. Of course, change the screen to a beattie screen (how can anyone focus with these dark FE/FM2 screens?). Two years ago, I bought an F100, an 80-200 AF-S (nice, sharp lens -- but too intimidating), a 17-35 AF-S, and an SB-28 flash and SC-17 TTL cord (who leaves their flash on the camera?). My wife just bought an N80 to use the lenses and got it today. She's pretty happy. On the Leica side, M6 0.85 TTL with the 90 APO is my favorite... Regards, JR
