I am very disgusted with 35mm scans' quality I have observed from my Minolta
Dimage Multi (original version software).

I sent the scanner to Minolta and, after $214 it is still the same. I
repacked it and sent it again, this time to the attention of the manager.
I was told that it works just fine, as per specs, and that maybe it is my
computer that is the culprit (Minolta claims that unless it is a "brand"
computer, it may be the cause of my woes).

Has anyone experienced similar problems? Is the type of computer pivotal in
scanning quality?
I have been considering a new scanner (4000 dpi) but the experience with
mine makes me very nervous in considering an outlay of many hundreds of
dollars.
