The grain in the "car pool" image is from a really underexposed image.  I
had been shooting the other direction into front lit morning light when I
saw the composition behind me.  I had enough time to focus but not to set
exposure.  The image is as good as it is by using multiple layers in PS to
build some density back into the shadows.
