I own (and have owned) many Leicas - one being an R4-sP. It's a great
camera. For automation it has an aperture priority mode and it also features
a manual mode as well. The light meter works in two modes - one a large
field "averaging" and two a very tight spot metering mode. The r4-sP is
super reliable and a great bargain. Buy one from a reliable source and your
wife will almost surely love it. Leica has some great macro lenses as well
as some fine combinations of lenses that will produce macros- like a 50mm
summicron with an Elpro. My two cents worth.
