It also says something for their >repair service or lack thereof. I had purchased a Pentax 6x7 from them about 12 months ago. About 45 days into owning it it picked up a case of curtain drag, where a strip about 3mm wide on one edge of the neg would be underexposed. KEH swapped it out promptly for another one, which developed the same problem within two weeks. This one we chose to repair - took two months to get the thing back and only after calling some big kahunas there did it get done. I was not happy. >And yes I have had several pleasant experiences with KEH and do know several >of their buyers as friends but I remain a very unsatisfied customer who >won't go back. I decided to give them another try and bought that 135/4 Elmar with the dying vulcanite I mentioned earlier this week. Aside from the vulcanite the glass is flawless - simply beautiful. Priced reasonably fair, too. BTW, a good dose of Neatsfoot Oil seems to do wonders for brittle vulcanite...I applied it with a Q-tip/cotton bud and let it soak for several hours then wiped it off with a cloth. The crackly brittleness is greatly reduced...I'll give it another application in a week or so. As for KEH - they can be pricey but they can have bargains...I'd inspect anything I get from them with some care though. - -- Craig Zeni - REPLY TO -->> clzeni at mindspring dot com http://www.trainweb.org/zeniphotos/zenihome.html http://www.mindspring.com/~clzeni/index.html This message inspected by No. 37.
