Just got the Noct back last evening from Leica and it is in like-new condition! The stiff focusing issue was fixed and the optics have been cleaned. I'm planning on taking some snaps with it today. For those who might wonder why I would send off the Noct for servicing: the focusing was so stiff that I was concerned I would eventually damage the lens mount on my M3, as the only way to focus it was to use the camera body as a lever. Focusing by twisting the lens itself was almost impossible. With the culmination of an upcoming M6 purchase, I will now have re-vamped my entire Leica kit. In the past 24 months I have added the Noct, Cosina 25mm f/4.0, Voigtländer 35mm f/1.9, Voigtländer 50mm f/1.5, and the Elmarit 135mm f/2.8. I have gone from the old, slow, mostly uncoated optics that my father-in-law gave me, to modern, fast, multicoated optics. The Leica glow was evident in the earlier lenses I just finished selling on eBay, but so was a lot of flare and other imaging characteristics I did not care for. Speed is another issue; I hate using a tripod for marginal conditions and the faster lenses will help in that arena. However, from this point forward, if I am able to get one additional lens per year, I'll consider myself lucky. Good light! /Mitch Zeissler
