It's very hard to state that kids need to start with this or that camera ... Some kids appreciate doing it all by themselves, setting speeds, apertures, advancing film, focusing, rewinding film and so on...some other hate that. I'd say that making the kids play with tools would increase loving tools, so caring those tools and appreciate the whole labor around the photo gear. All this stuff will lead kids to feel like a commitment...with the general photo stuff... IMO. regards Pablo
