(p.50) fine grain and sharpness are also improved when compared with D-76 and TMAX developers (p.50) XTOL is now the developer most highly recommended by Kodak for T-Max films (p.50) and unfortunately that XTOL is "the swansong for B&W chemistry at Kodak": XTOL is for the foreseeable future the last film developer which will be researched with the monumental throughness that only Kodak has had the financial and intellectural resources to achieve.
