Although there's a lot to say about doing a convolution of an image with a kernel that resembles a given bokeh. A "gaussian" blur uses a kernel that approximates a gaussian bell shaped surface. You can think of a kernel as the "circle of confusion" to be applied to the image. If instead of the bell shaped surface you use a flat circle, or a concave one, you can "worsen" the bokeh (ie, make it more realistic.) [Anthony, I get the feeling you know all this already] But as Anthony says, without distance info or manual selections you can only apply the same amount of blur to the whole image. j - -- - --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Juan J.
