I agree,

30 years ago I was taking some pretty good pictures with my If, no
rangefinder.  Either they were stepped down or the focus was artistically
interesting.<g>

Now I've got a IIIf and I'm fiddling with focus.  The results are about the
same, it's going to take me some time to catch up.  But I shall.

One thing that makes the Noctilux pictures different for me is the fact that
the whole benefit in using this camera is to get a very flat plane in focus,
which is where the subject is.  The area before and after the plane of focus
is obviously blurred, so the Nocti pictures have a very unique
characteristic.

It seems that I often take pictures with very small apertures, to see as
much in focus as possible.

So the use of maximum apertures will really change how you record that
moment..... that decisive moment.
