My Jupiter-3 must be really crappy. Well, not so much "really crappy" as "just plain poor". The later ones (1984 and after) seem the most consistent in quality. I have done extensive comparisons between my 1.5/50 Jupiter-3 and my 1.4/50 Summilux and they are almost on par, whether wide-open or stopped-down. The Jupiter-3, of course, is a 1931 design, the Summilux a 1961 design, so it should do a bit better ... I'd send this one of yours back and get another.
