I guess some of us say things wrong and some of us spell things wrong <g>. I don't spell so 'well' either - especially on the weekends. I looked at the Massachusetts General Laws and find the civil nature of the speeding provisions interesting. You still have due process rights and the ability to request a hearing. The streamlined procedures would not fly for an offense in which jail was an option. There are some proceedings in California in which police officers are allowed to present hearsay testimony if they have met certain qualifications (preliminary hearings, for example). I would be interested in the rules of evidence at one of these civil speeding hearings. BTW, I think we've gotten pretty far afield here. I'd be happy to continue off-list.
