Recleaning your negs by rewashing is one tact to take.

Another would be the making of a 5x7 print or film positive and then scanning
that on a pretty good flatbed. Or 8x10. Or 4x5!

Taking the approach of making the print with open blacks and printed down
highlights would seem obvious.
But i think just a regular print can be amazing to work with. The scanner pulls
out tones you didn't think were there both in the shadows AND the highlights.

You will end up with HUGE CLEAN scan! What else would anyone ask for in life?

Yep sometimes i thing this making of another generation is the way to go when it
comes to much digital work. Inkjets from some of your better images...
go down to the darkroom first.
You have to anyway to make the negs.
Dont turn them into potting sheds yet boys!
