If you don't turn the shutter button to the off position, you will go through batteries with devastating rapidity. I learned that to my chagrin last Summer in Honduras where there were no batteries to be had for the M6TTL. None. Fortunately, I had my M5 with me, so I didn't lose metering. But, it's a good thing I didn't need flash on that trip. Anyway, definitely turn it off. This is about the only thing I don't like about the M6TTL. Even now, I don't always remember to turn the button to off. Fortunately, I remember enough that I don't run through batteries every six weeks anymore. Another tip: always carry spare batteries with you. Regards, Brian
