I too got one of the 500 SC's produced, according to another LUGer, nice feeling, substantial - Tri-Em's a super lens. Consider a ND filter to use wider apertures in bright daylight - narrower DOF. Do post photo's & comments. This sunday I woke up at 02h00 AM with one goal in mind : going to Bièvres , at the annual photo sale , and buy a used Tri-Elmar . I arrived by 06h00 AM in the the early morning , and noticed that most of the sellers were already in action . In the cold air , I could separate about 5 Tri-E's , all used but in good condition . But one Belgium seller offered a Chrome version , brand new , for a fair price , inclueding the part exchange of my 50 'cron . Talking about the 50 , this is the Leica lens that you can find very easily in Bièvres . So I took the Chrome version of that Tri-E , wich is much firmier than all the black ones I've tested today . I've been said the Chrome version of the Tri-E was produced in a very small batch ? I like the versatility of that lens , despite it's poor brightness . I'm still keeping my beloved 35 'cron asph and the 90 / 2.8 Tele Elmarit . Any infos regarding the Tri-E are welcome .
