But perhaps I misstated my opinion on auto-bracketing. It's clearly not a "precision" technique - it's a shotgun effect, to produce hopefully improved results when the photographer lacks faith in his meter, or genuinely doesn't know what he wants. I guess this falls into the "useful" category you mention. I'm usually too lazy to bracket with my M6. :) C. - -----Original Message----- From: Austin Franklin [mailto:darkroom@ix.netcom.com] Sent: Thursday, May 31, 2001 9:17 AM To: leica-users@mejac.palo-alto.ca.us Subject: RE: [Leica] No more leicas > And I still feel that for ultimate precision, nothing beats > careful autofocus, spot metering, and auto-bracketing. You're kidding, right? I agree with the spot metering (if you know how to use it that is), but certainly not autofocus or auto-bracketing. I have yet to see any shots from either the Rollei 6008 or Contax SLRs using autobracket (even with chrome film)...where the middle shot wasn't the best of the three... That says a lot for the Rollei and Contax metering mind you! Of course there are 'some' circumstances when AB and AF can be 'useful', but it depends on what type of photography one is doing... ******************************************************* The information transmitted is intended only for the person or entity to which it is addressed and may contain confidential and/or privileged material.
