I tested and developed three rolls of the New D400. E.I. was at 200 and 400
and one roll was developed in XTOL 1:1 on a roller. The other two rolls were
processed in D-76, 1:1, manual agitation.

All the film had a dark film base density, much darker than any other film I
have used. Contrast was odd. Although it did not seem very contrasty, the
highlights were overexposed. Grain with D76 1:1 was terrible. Much worse
than Tri-X or HP5+. The roll souped in XTOL had much finer grain, but still
trouble with the highlights. I am sorry I bought 100 ft. of this stuff. Has
anybody tamed it?
