'Hybrid aspheric' means having a piece of moulded plastic aspheric element adhered to a conventional (spheric) glass element, rendering the combo 'aspheric'. Many, if not most, consumer zoom lenses are made in way; not so much for superior optical quality but mostly for the more compact designs this technology offers. The broad range and yet compact 24-120 and 28-200 zooms come to mind. Joseph
