35mm = angular field of 64 degrees, gathers in lots of rays.
without hood:
1.outdoors, overcast sky, no direct sunlight, little problem;
2. outdoors, direct sunlight from astern, little problem;
3. outdoors, direct sunlight anywhere from starboard beam to port beam, 
problem;
4. indoors, lights anywhere in field, big problem anyway except for new 
aspherics.
