It seems that the "electronic marvels" come and go so quickly because with them the emphasis is on new features and not on actual picture taking, for which such features are ultimately unnecessary, as manual cameras of every description (from pinholes to FMs) amply demonstrate. Since these features are technology driven they are continuously renewed as the technology changes, the idea being - as with personal computers - that the user will go out and buy the new model for the new features it has to offer even though the new model won't necessarily make better pictures. Strange. Guy
