Subject: [Leica] Rewind knob

I have enjoyed reading this list -- really interesting people, great
conversation and terrific [photos on the various webs sites, so this seems
like the place to ask the following --

My pre-TTL M6 bit the dust, bending the rewind knob completely out of
shape. My camera repair guy, an excellent craftsman and very innovative
when parts are unavailable spent over an hour trying to straighten the knob
out. A call to Leica revealed that they would be glad to send a replacement
in three weeks for $75! Seventy five bucks! I am well aware of the cost of
Leica equipment (boy am I), but $75 seems a bit much for a rewind knob.

Both the repair tech and myself were surprised at how thin and flimsy the
rewind knob is considering the quality of the rest of the camera.

Anyway, does anyone out there have for sale or know of anywhere I can pick
up a rewind knob for a more "reasonable" price? In the meantime, the tech
is going to tap a proper sized thread into an old Contax rewind knob so at
least I can use the camera again.

Thanks very much -- and thanks for some great reading in this group!
